Well, i have been waiting for these guys for a long time! And finally, after almost a year of waiting, one of the stores got them in. So today, I picked up two Gold Stripe Maroon Clownfish!

These guys are rare and fairly sought after in the hobby. They can go for $50 or more each at some stores! I currently have the female in a box in the main tank and the smaller male outside the box cruising the tank....eventually, i will let the female out....hopefully by then, they will be more used to eachother and only have a little fight before acceptance! :D

Enjoy!

The female:

Yup. Gotta agree. Those are great pics & we love the gold striped maroons (got a pair ourselves hosting in a LTA) & porcupine puffer (lost it during the move  ).

No, you can't. Don't listen to what SOME people say. Luck is not a means to judge success in this hobby.

Most likely no.....maroons are probably the most aggressive clownfish.....chances are they will give the percs a rough ride.....perhaps even try to take one anothers anenomes if you have them in the tank.

Hey, just gave you a reason to set up another tank!

I'm assuming your 90g is a four footer & that's not enough space to give the percs a chance to get away from the Maroons. I have a breeding pair of Ocellaris with my pair of Gold Stripes but they each take one half of a six foot tank, with their own LR structure & host anemone (although Oc. host Rhodactis shrooms). Like the others have stated already, maroons are the most aggressive clowns & getting them to co-habitate with other clowns requires luck & lots of tank space.

I dont know how these guys do it.I have seen Ocellaris, percs, maroons all in the same tank and his tank is smaller than mine.I wont mention names.

george

thanks for the info

I have 2 false percs, 2 sebae, and 1 gold stripe maroon in my 230. I got the maroon when he was very small but he is getting quite big now and is going to be getting a new home in my 190 once it has cycled. He is quite aggressive - unfortunately mostly with me when I put my hand in his end of the tank but he does take a run at the sebaes - which are huge - if they come too close to his anemone. I would not put the maroon in a smaller tank with other clowns.

BTW, thanks Anthony for reccomending Coral Ocean Aquarium to my girl....he was the ones who got those gold stripes in!
