View Full Version : Cutting Center Brace on 3' tank
I want to upgrade the lighting on my tank to MH. I want to just take the easy route and buy the aqualight pro fixture but my tank has a 2"center brace that would either a)melt or b)block all of the light coming through. Would I jeopardize any structural integrity of the tank if I where to cut the middle brace so that the light can go through?
Any help would be bennefitial.
Few questions:
Dimensions of the tank? (LxWxH)
Thickness of Glass?
How old is the tank?
I think it's 36x12x18.
I'm not sure on the thickness of the glass - maybe 1/2?
It's your standard 33 gallon tank.
I would guess it would be ok but, I would probably add eurobracing just in case.

can you get a better measurment of the thickness? I have never seen a standard 33 with a center brace so I would guess you will be ok unless it is real thin glass.
