Hi all,

Wanted to share the latest photo's of my clownfish laying eggs.

To give you a bit of background, these guys have been laying eggs about every 2 - 3 weeks for the last couple months. They always lay the eggs in the same location, right at the front of the glass for easy viewing. You can set your watch by them for when a new batch is coming, it's like clockwork with these two

1st shot - The location. Always on the magnet underneath the anemone. The anemone was just fed, so that is why he is a lot more closed up than normal

2nd Shot - Before they lay eggs, they always go through the same ritual of preparing the surface. It looks like they clean the area, but who knows

3rd Shot - You can see the eggs starting to appear

4th Shot - Mom laying down even more eggs

5th Shot - The latest batch all done. Sorry this pic was blurry, I'll try and get a better shot tonight

Neat pics! Funny place to lay eggs though. I bet they're baffled when their home starts to move away on them

Awesome!

What type of anemone is that? Ritteri?

Anyhow.. thanks for the pictures.. I love clownfish, especially when they breed.. it must be so entertaining to watch.

Very cool! I wish mine would do that but so far no luck.

yep the anemone is a Ritteri. It is hard to tell from the picture, but when he is fully open he has about a 14" diameter. He has been in the tank for just over a year now, and doing extremly well

That's great... good to hear your having success with it!

Have you ever thought of raising the fry? Or no intentions to?

with ever batch of eggs my wife asks me the same thing. We currently only have the one tank setup, and really do not have the room or time it would take to raise the fry.

heh, yeah from what I have read it requires lots of time and effort.. and isn't the easiest task.

still must be very neat to see them laying the eggs..

again, congrats

Hey congrats.I envy you.I wish mine would do that they they got divorced. The male moved out from the female and he has his own bachelors pad now.But The pics are awesome though it is different that they did it sooo close to the glass. They ussually like to hide as they are soooo protective of their young.Well I know a guy in Van that raised his fry and he says it wasnt that hard to do.And he did it just in one 33 gal tank and he succeeded with it.Only 10% lived but he still did it.He never sold any he decided to keep them all.So he has 180gal with just clownfish

My clowns have been laying eggs for a little over a mouth now. I am trying to raise the fry but no luck so far. I get to day 7 / 8 and the last of them die off. And then recently the last two batch's have gone white with purple ends whitch is not the norm. So now i don't know whats going on. I've been reading the book Clownfishes by Joyce D. Wilkerson, its a good read. even if your not trying to raise the larvae.

Kyle,

Are you closely monitoring ammonia in your fry tank?
