View Full Version : My PVC Diy skimmer

just thought i would post a link to my pics of my diy skimmer. just plugged in this morning and skimming wonderfully all ready.It is using a rio 2100 pump with a modified venturi intake. the skimmer is 6 feet tall and is made out ot 4" and 2" pvc. Any comments appreciated!

Cool, Duct tape the universal building material :D , looks like it is working good, how much did you spend al togeather? (Oh I know a rool of duct tape is big bucks so don't worry about that smile.gif

Well, all the pvc parts and tubing cost me 50 to 60 dollars. That price was for the total length of pipes and such, so I still have 1/3 of the pipes left over. The actual cost of the skimmer I would say is 45 dollars. This price does not include the pump. Total price with the rio pump I am using (had it in my fish bin) would be $110.00. Prior to this, I had a seaclone which worked well for what it was, but this one skimms better/more in 1 day than the seaclone did in a week. smile.gif
