I'm thinking of building my own sump out of acrylic. Any advice before I start?
Thank you

Practice on scraps before attempting to join your good sheets together.

My advice is if you have an in-sump skimmer, figure out the water depth it operates best and, and plan your baffles accordingly. Also allow enough room for access to the skimmer for maintainence.

I did a DIY sump out of a glass aquarium and installed baffles, lots of other people have done this, it's simpler than a DIY acrylic sump.

I've been trying to find a tank the size I want, and for an affordable price. Can't seem to find one. I think that a galss tank is too much wasted area. I would think you want something long, wide and not very high. Seeing as how a in sump skimmer only needs about 8" of water. I was going to make the sump 50"x24"x 16" high. That would give me about 60g of operating water and 90g of power off water. I guess a 108g long would have about the same dimensions, but try to find one for $100.00
