I have two golf ball sized chunks of chaeto attached with elastics to small rocks in my 67g. They are growing well, even had to split one yesterday.

Anyway, growing on the back of the tank are coralline, dense green algae that my snails eat as well as this new curly light green algae that looks an awful lot like little chaetos.

Can it be possible that this curly stuff is actually chaeto? If so, I don't think I want it on the back glass of my tank

I've never had chaeto attach onto anything. Sounds strange.

Finally got around to taking pics of the chaeto growing on the back of my 67g. Looks like chaeto - those curly little green things?

I have some of those growing on my sand .......I think it came in as a hitchhiker on the red algae I got from you they don't seem to do any harm and someone keeps eating them cause in the morning they are gone

Murray,

How long ago did you get the red algae from me? I've only had chaeto for a few months.

I have chaeto in my refugium and after a while I also noticed a few rogue chaeto frags in my tank.

However, there must be something in my tank that likes eating chaeto because the rogues haven't grown much or spread. The other posibility is that the chaeto in the refugium is doing its job and leaving the tank clean of excess nutrients. Either way everything seems to have found a happy balance on its own.
