egad! woke up this morning to find my tank had strands of sort of slime hanging (kinda like spiderwebs) all over the place. it's not cyno but i don't know what it is...anyone suggest what it may be?

no clams no wrasses, no new livestock in the last few weeks in fact...would corals secrete that slime perhaps??

Vermetid gastropod or vermetid snail (stationary snail, looks a little like a tubeworm, sends out this spiderweb type netting to catch food).
If that's what you have ... Some say they're harmless, some say not. They are definitely a visual nuisance. I'm not so sure they're harmless, I find the webbing really irritates neighbouring SPS corals and eventually the corals recede a little. I try to let things be but every so often I have to pick out a few that get to be making a nuisance of themselves.

yup, looks the same. i pulled a little bit out that was very similar to raw egg whites :eek: anyhow... i'll keep an eye on it and thanks for the info.
