Just saw this in the latest Lee Valley catalog:

Razor-Blade Scrapers (http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=1&p=51938&cat=1,44047)

They come in a set of 6 for $3.50. Not too bad if you ask me. Looks good for scraping in some narrow and tight areas. Probably good for the nano guys and gals out there.

Do you guys actually use real razor blades to scrape the tank? I always figured it was bad to put metal in the tank water. I may have to start using one then.

No problem if it is stainless

We have one of those. The blades can be replaced. Use it until it begins to rust, then replace the blade.

Be careful with them, especially with a hard to remove bit. I had one that chipped but I was lucky and found the chip right away. I'd hate to think of what it could do in a tank if it stayed lost. But yes they are awesome for removing coraline and feather dusters and other stuff off your glass. That being said, they'd work well for cutting up softies and mushrooms for propagation I'd assume.

I read a study (sorry can't remember where) that indicated that small amounts of rust aren't as bad as we all think for an aquarium. When my lights fell into my tank, my skimmer pulled out rust colored skimmate for days. I only did a couple of small water changes for PH purposes, and nothing died.
