View Full Version : Paypal heads up for us Canucks..
If you are ever concidering sending $$ between two Canadians make sure that you have your primary Account set up in Canadian Dollars.
Otherwise they will nail you with fees.
Trust me. I made that mistake as I don't normally use paypal.
Just a heads up. take alook and see that you have set it up correctly. Even though they know you are a Canuck, you will get hit.
cheers
someone sent me money with a credit card.. I cannot get it unless I upgrade to a premium or business account! Then every time I get money I have to pay a fee..
sad.. :(

also Paypal users be careful....I got an email yesterday stating that someone from different IP addresses were trying unsuccessfully to log into my account, and to click on the link below, enter my user name and password and they will correct everything...thinking this was strange, I emailed paypal and forwarded this message to them, they replied with "it isn't from us and thank you for bringing it to their attention"
Just a FYI!

thats ok, do it for the credit cards, but once you upgrade to the premium to be able to accept a credit card, any and all money transfers including debit and bank (free under basic) is now charged a fee.
so.. this is my beef :)
Sean,
There are already fees for using the service as I had. if you are transferring less than $150 it is 50 cents. I was hit with an additional $4.50.
and I got that fake email as well.

Between two Canadians, as long as both parties have accounts at one of the bigger banks (i.e. TD, Royal, BMO, etc.), you can do an interac email transfer. You need to do your banking online, but other than that, it's pretty slick. I prefer this method over paypal. I don't understand why it's not really advertised, it seems to be more of a word-of-mouth thing.
Anyhow, I recommend looking into it. I'm not sure, but it may be cheaper altogether than paypal. I make a habit to avoid paypal as often as possible so I don't really know the ins and outs of paypal all that well.

True, paypal can be a bit of a byatch sometimes.
I sell club stickers for my mazda6club.com site. I've probably sold over 400+ at a price of $7usd for a set. For the first time ever, some moron complained to paypal that I didn't ship his out on time (there was never a set time, other than, except 2-3 weeks delivery). Because they are 'stickers' i'm sending them via regular mail, so obviously no tracking. Because he complained, and I had no proof (tracking) paypal refunded his money back, even though I sent the stickers. This all just happened today. We'll see what paypal does seeing that I have a perfect record with them.

I LOVE email money transfers. They work great, however I have been nailed with a fee almost every time. Not sure why?
Chris
Normally I use my bank to do this. But thought.. meh.. why not.. Never ever again..
