I have a problem. I bought bulk supplies of magnesium and ended up with 300 lbs of the stuff!

I made it with lab grade magnesium chloride and lab grade magnesium sulfate. I followed the directions from the reef chemistry forum.

The above procedure that I used is much better then just epson salts because it does not disrupt the ionic balance in the system.

I am currently using it in my 250 gallon SPS system.

I am willing to sell it for $2 per pound (my cost just for raw materials $1.15) for small portions. Under 15 lbs.

For large portions I will sell it for $1.75 per pound. 15 to 30 lbs.

To encourage people to get this stuff out of my garage (I have enough to last me for 120 yrs) I will sell amounts over $30 lbs for $1.35 per pound.

I live in Winnipeg Manitoba. I will figure out shipping charges if you like. I travel to Saskatchewan on occasion so I could deliver some out there.

A few of questions for you about your magnesium:

1. Did you buy magnesium chloride hexahydrate or anhydrous magnesium chloride?

2. Are you selling a mix of magnesium chloride and magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, or are you selling each of them separately?

3. If you are selling them mixed, how do you know the two components are thoroughly mixed in the 300 lbs of magnesium? Is there a chance that portions of the mixture are not of the ratio prescribed in the article?

TIA

Good questions.

1) Magnesium chloride hexahydrate
2)I have them mixed and seperate.
3)I mixed them very slowly in 1 liter stages, then mixed them in a larger container. There is a chance that they are not fully mixed exactly, but this should be minor and of small consequence. If you at one time add mostly magnesium sulfate it would bring up your sulfate a small amount. Then the next time maybe the ratio could be 15:1 and it would help balance it out.

Either way I am sure it is mixed much better then that, and should be good to go.
