Has anyone ever bought anything from Albrite (Coquitlam) or Brite-Lite (Delta)? Are they wholesale only or can anybody come in off the street and buy something?

I'm looking to get some electronic t-8 ballasts and some 36" t-8's.

Cheers,
Vic [veng68]

I've been to Albrite a few times.. They do retail. Good people.

If you phone just ask for someone from sales. If you go in just establish that you want something and don't have an account. I think us walk-in slobs are few and far between.

Not much of a showroom to speak of but as long as you know what you want you'll be fine.

From Brite-lite I bought some pc bulbs. I forget if I ordered on-line or over the phone. I thought I was ordering Phillips pc bulbs but I received a Chinese brand, "WalSun". The bulbs were very inexpensive (about 1/3 the cost of bulbs elsewhere) and they worked OK.

From Albrite I believe I ordered some pc bulbs also over the phone and things went fine, more expensive but they had the bulbs I wanted.

Bought from both, good service etc. I got actinic tubes from Albrite, they were really inexpensive. I got a couple of ballasts from them as well. From Brite Lite I got a MH bulb for growing orchids and I was very happy with it. Both stores offered great service and excellent prices.

Did you actually go there or did you order by phone.

I'd like to just drop by when I am in the area but I don't know if they are receptive to that.

I will know what items I would be looking for before hand.

Do you have a code for those bulbs (ge 9325K) and do you remember off hand how much they cost?

Cheers,

PM'ed you.

Actually, come to think of it, I didn't have to order anything. I just asked if the items were in stock and they were and I drove there to buy them.

I use albrite as a wholesaler and as a supplier for my reef lighting. You can just walk in the door and ask for what you need. I would recomend you bring a sample if you have one. Some of the items we get at the LFS is not marked with industrie standard markings.

can you get t5 stuff there?

If you mean Albrite, they sell T5 stuff but all the bulbs they sell are pretty low Kelvin. I think the highest was 5500K. I bought both of my Workhorse ballasts there and only passed on the endcaps because I wanted some kind of waterproof one.

Anyone buy a MH ballast?

It may be a stupid question but if I buy a M80 or M81 core & cap ballast......... is it bare bones or does it come with an enclosure? If it come bare what is the enclosure called (so that I know what to ask for)?
