What temp are you keeping your tanks at?
I have read so many conflicting suggests.
The New Marine Aquarium by Michael Paletta suggests 74-76F
I have seen people run between 79-83F

Whats best?

79 most times, but I'll kick it up to 92 when my chiller fuse blows. Not recommended for long term temp though...

80 to 82 degrees.

I read an article online a while back, I think there is a link off RC or its magazine, that says real reef temperatures are in the low 80's.

I shoot for 77-78, that way if the heater goes and sticks on I have a little more time to notice it before things start getting nuked.

Ya, make sure you're at work when you blow the fuse. That way you get a warm welcome when you get home!

Brad do you run the chiller inline with your return pump? Also, try increasing the differential it will make a difference in fuse consumtion.

Ya, but then life is just the same everyday. And since I already have chiller, throwing it away becasue it runs on fuses might not be the best plan.

between 78-80 for me too, anything warmer and it means less ice for my rye and coke and more for the sump

Jack, no, I have dedicated pump. The differential is set to 4 degrees, that's the max. I don't blow fuses like I used to, but every now and then, poof!

I keep my tanks at 79.0. I have had problems with the heaters sticking on and have recently purchased a Medusa Controller. It is fantastic. As my tanks are in the basement I have not had a requirement for cooling so far.

My tank jumps from 78 at night to 82 with the halides on, it will go higher if the fan does not go on.
