Would anybody trade for a beautiful 7 – 8” Green Carpet anemone. It is great health but is too big for my 33 G tank. I would like to trade for some corals. Please E Mail if you are interested

Its is a S gigantius.

Cheers,
Patrick

I might be tempted....

Do you have any pictures you could post? Sorry to be skeptical, but I'd have to see it to beleive it was S. gigantea. I have seen SO many mislabelings over the years.

What are the size of the tentacles? Do they vibrate at all? Does it have noticeable verrucae?

I agree it was very hard to get the exact scientific name. I ad to research several web sites and even then I am not 100% sure. I thought I had it down when I bought it but I am questioning what I was told.

I will try and post some pictures tonight.

Does it have the long tentacles like that one? Or shorter and more bulbous? I'll post you a picture of the tentacles on mine adn see how the compare.

Er, yeah, sorry I already know what S. gigantea is "supposed" to look like, sorry that I wasn't clear. I did mean I wanted to see yours! images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Here is a website with some nice pictures of S. gigantea:

John's Reef Flat (http://reef.esmartweb.com)

His anemone page:
Giant Carpet Anemone - Stichodactyla gigantea (http://reef.esmartweb.com/anemone.htm)

I have some pictures of a lime green S. haddoni (same species as Darren's posted picture), that lives in one of my tanks, that you can look at (in addition to Darren's) for comparison ... but unforunately I can't link to them in here because I don't have a webpage, so I will have to email them to you instead. Let me know if you're interested.

Tony,

Email them to me. I'll post them so he can see the diff between my haddoni and a giant.

OK no laughing images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif but here is a link to my web site. I have only spent about an hour on it so it is under major construction, but I did upload some pictures.
