I have a small leak from an "O" ring for my DI unit. Its not worth really sending it back, can I use teflon tape on the threads to seal it?

If it's leaking from a threaded connection somewhere, then yes that should work. You could also try a new O-ring (should be plenty in the plumbing dept of any hardware store, ROna, HD, etc.). Where is the leak coming from?

I'm pretty sure its from the O ring. A drip of water every 20-30 seconds comes from the seam on the intake side of the DI canister. I checked the O ring and there are no visible defects, and I was also very careful not to get DI beads in the threads of the cap.

Update...

I tried teflon tape last night, didn't work. I tried more teflone tape after, still didn't work. Should I just silicon the damn thing?

Try a new o-ring first.

i had the same situation with my setup. someone mentioned that eventually it will just stop so i put a rag underneath it so it wouldn't drip too much and just absorb what did drip and low and behold, within a few weeks it stopped!

THe problem is that the unit runs at less than half efficiency with the leak. I find that the DI cannister can't even fill 3/4 full because of it. For now I have by passed the DI so I can at least get some RO water in the new tank.

Can you snap a picture of from where it's leaking?

I have a pic but I can't upload it. There is an intake side to the DI cannister that unscrews. Inside the cap there is a O ring. the water is dripping from the seam of the cap.
