go with AVG, i find its less of a drain on your system. Norton is a resource hog

I have used AVG for a long time but I wasn't sure if it was doing any good, guess I'll save my money then.

I use AVG and I have never had a problem with it I have noticed that it will detect Viruses that Norton Misses....I used to have both running at the same time!!!

AVG is good....for a free AV. Norton. BAD unless you have a big system. Their new versions are resource HOGS! Definately make sure your running a router. Don't waste money (and system resources) on any internet securities bundles.

We sell and prefer Panda Titanium. Its GREAT software. Currently rated as the #2 AV. PC Cillin took #1 spot. All the new AV's require 256MB ram to run. Panda takes just 96MB! Its only drawback is in finding trojans. I run the Trend Micro online scan once a week to weed out anything Panda may have missed (good trojan killer).

If you do go with Panda. Don't install off the CD. Register first and then download the newest version. 4.01.02 has a major core update that it cannot do by live updating.

Kaspersky.

I wouldn't go near Panda again myself, it entrenches itself in your system and is nearly impossible to remove if you decide you don't like it... I had to reformat my system to get rid of it.

The same can be said for any AV if it 'goes sour'. We've had to reformat systems due to AVG, Norton (the worst by far lately), McAfee (next worst have to registry edit to get rid of this beast), Yes and Panda too.

Its too bad you had a bad experience with it. It works GREAT when its in good. As with installing any AV, try not to use the disk you get, download the latest version and also make sure your PC is virus free. Have it scanned by a 'known clean' system or an online scan before yo nstall. We've seen where even 1 small piece of spyware completely messes an AV install and now your reformating. Really sucks. We deal with and repair all of them on a daily basis. Yes, they are ugly when they get bent. But Panda has been the most stable, this year anyway. Who knows, next release we may go back to Norton, depends on how well it works.

Avoid Shaw's Fsecure and Telus Ecare at all costs!!!! We've had at least 15 systems again already this month where these "AV's" have completely wrecked Windows. Some we were able to recover, most we had to reformat.
