Sweet. One day I hope to make it to over there.

Edit: OMG. :eek: Would you just LOOK at that ritteri. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.

PS. What kind of camera did you use? What underwater housing? When I dove the GBR 4 years ago I didn't have the budget for a decent UW housing so I took pictures using a cheapy underwater disposable camera. Pictures came out accordingly. These ones look like whatever you used, worked out not too bad. Any info appreciated.

Yeah I seen them eat it and then they used the shell as a sink when they built the bathroom. I think it was a maxima. There was also a gigas clam where they were diving but I'm sure the thing weighed 100 lbs , so I don't think they got it!

The camera is a little Sony digital USC60 I found in Calgary before I left. It's only waterproof to 5 ft and the display is pretty small but I think it worked great. It has a setting to take the blue out on underwater shots without a filter, uses memory stick and AAA's. It was still cheaper than a housing for my Canon. Here's a link, I think it's discontinued now but you might still find one.

We didn't use a travel agent, I managed to do it all off the net. AirCanada from Van. to Hong Kong, Thai Air to Taipei, and FAT Airlines (Far Eastern Asian Transport) from Taipei to Palau. It would be shorter if you went Air Canada to Seoul then FAT to Palau. I think the only booking agent for FAT Air is gobundle.com in California. If you need a contact there let me know, they were a great help.
We stayed at Carolines Resort up on the hill behind the Palau Pacific Resort. You get to use all the facilities at PPR as well and some of the best snorkeling was just off their beach.
I decided to go with Sam's Tours and they were great. They will even rent you a kayak and camping gear and drop you off out in the Rock Islands.
They handle diving, snorkeling, photography, land tours, fishing, kayaks, whatever.

Here's some links

Leave yourself lot's of time to make arrangements they are on "island time" and email and internet goes down once in a while.
If you need anymore info let me know.

Hey, thanks for the info and the links. I'm going to check them out now.

How long did you stay and how much do you think it cost? You can PM me if that info is too personal.

Did you book your flight tickets directly with the airline's website?

I guess some other options would be:
Vancouver->Taipei->Palau or
Vancouver->Manila->Palau

Oh, I just found this website:

As for Carolines resort, did you get a package from the Tour Operator? I guess it would be cheaper to get a package than to get the tour and accomodation separately.

Well, change of plan. Looks like it'll be Turks & Caicos Islands for me. But thanks for all the info for Palau. It is now on my list of Islands to visit in the future.
