I just took some pictures of my tank today so I thought I would show them to you . Please let me know what you think and if you see places which can be improved let me know. I'm always looking for ways to improve my tank

What do you think of T5 lighting? I've been toying with the idea of ether replacing my aqualight with t5s or adding a small t5 system to go with my aqualight. Halides are not really an option for me at this time.
Thanks for looking

Nice tank. I think it could be improved by shipping me some of those really "ugly" zoos (jk)
I have both PC & T-5 lighting. I use t-5s to supplement the blue spectrum (actinic & 20000k). I would probably switch your actinic or 50/50 PC bulbs for pure 10000k & add some blue t-5s. That would make the tank more coral friendly & make better use of the lighting you do have. Going all t-5 is expensive & the bulbs do not have a very long useful life, so I wouldn't recommend a pure t-5 switchover.

Hmmm thats a good idea!
I was this is what I was thinking of doing, before you gave me that suggestion that is. I was thinking of getting a smaller 4 bulb t5 setup and having a 1 20000k bulb 1 atinic bulb and 2 white bulbs. The plan was the run the 2 10000k bulbs on my aqualight bulbs for a only a short period of the day say noon time to 3 or 4pm, and having the t5s run morning to early evening and the 2 atinic bulbs on the aqualight turn off last. Is that a good idea or would converting my aqualight to all 10000ks be better and running t5s all blue?

I would probably go with 4 10000k PC, 2 actinic T-5s, & 2 20000k T-5s if you're planning on going with 4 smaller T-5s. Do you have a good source for T-5s though. Especially replacement bulbs. I can only buy (inexpensively & easily) the 20000k & 6500k replacement bulbs. The 10000k & true actinics are much more expensive to replace. It doesn't matter whether the manufacturer calls them throw aways, I always replace my T-5 bulbs. Most are on their 2nd set of bulbs & the ballasts are still going strong.
However, if you want to save having to buy so many new bulbs, then the set up you suggested would be the easiest & cheapest. You could even get the 6400k HO units now.
So you could have: 2 10000k PC, 2 Actinic PC, 2 6400k HO T-5s & 2 20000k NO T-5s. Cover almost the full spectrum of available k lights
Good luck & continue researching the T-5s before deciding.

Nice tank, incredible zoo colonies. If you moved here you'd be Mr. popular for quite a while!
hehe
thank you!
yeah i'm in no rush to get the new lights just in the planning stages so I am going to be researching for a while. I do have a sourse for cheaper t5s but they don't have a reflector built into the system, but i can get it build to a custom length.. but the bulbs it comes with are HO.

do tell more about the t5? im setting up a planted tank and would like some.. can you hook up a brother in richmond?
Talk to Dawn and Kathy at Fin-Ominal in blundell center they are the ones who i'm planning to get my t5s for. Have not got a final price yet but it should be just a bit over $200 with tax included.
