I bought a 175 watt Advance ballast from Albright lighting,it was $55.00,the socket was about 5 dollars. My only complaint was the noise from the ballast, although I can barely hear the humming since I put on a skimmer and a canopy fan.

Hi,
You may want to check with Albrite and ask for a Highhorse HH-MH-UNV-175. Its a 175W MH (M57) electronic ballast from Fulham. They are fairly efficient (90%) and fairly easy to wire together.
I am not sure if they are available here...so you can at least give them a call.
Oh...have you considered HQI ?

Victor,
Highhorses aren't out yet. I have been in contact with Fulham and when the first run comes out in a month or two I am supposed to get a pair of 175W's to have fun with. Can't wait.
And Cheryl just moved into a new condo so I doubt she is gonna go HQI. :D

Shao: Darren has mentioned that guy too, but I can't remember what else he said, he could probably tell you more.
Al: I am looking for one set up for my new 33, and yes I would need bulbs too.
Thanks!
Cheryl

Hi,
Have you been to Jamie's place yet ? Those lamps are HQI. Fairly popular in europe, but we pay a premium for that stuff. Functionally speaking, they have better spectrum and intensity than MH. An average 150W HQI tends to perform like the best 175W or a poor 250W MH setup. Keep in mind that they are quite expensive, but they are really nice.
Darren,
Yah...I am still waiting for those too. I was going to try driving HQI with those smile.gif

Dare I ask what HQI is?
