View Full Version : Vancouver Aquarium, anyone?

After a discussion about tank meets with TomR, I've sent an inquiry to the Vancouver Aquarium about tank tour/luncheon/dinner buffet to be hosted at the Vancouver Aquarium for one of our reef parties.

This is something I'd probably host in April, and we'd encourate reefers to come out with their families... We could try to coordinate a group buy but I think a frag trade would be difficult in that environment.

Comments? Interest?

Love to. I was discussing the same idea with several local reefers. If you need help organizing the meet, give me a call. BTW, how's the angel eggs/fry?

You were right, they were eatten, but I think it was my fault for being such an annoyance... 1 day later, the other angels in the community tank also laid eggs.. so I have 2 mated pairs... now I have to try to figure out if my fish are "Straight" or "Lesbian"...

I set up the 20g with your sponge filters and am going to try to force them to breed on a clay pot or piece of slate since I only have lighting for the community tank... (can't move the snake plant into the 20g without light :() So.. if I can get lights for my 33g then I can move that light onto my 20g... I see my money evaporating. <sighs> oh well...

Pretty excited about getting babies tho... if anyone has experience breeding angels, please let me know!

Used to breed angels for the petshops in the 80s.

A reef meet/dinner at the Vancouver Aquarium sounds amazing! I would be all over that.

It just so happens I am going there tomarrow with my nieces. I think I'm more excited than they are. ........Pathetic I know

My only concern about bringing family members to a meet is , are they going to want to talk shop and share stories for an afternoon? Plus car pooling would be an asset. Although it is a great way to break them in. I know kids in general would love it.

I'm open about that option either way.

Thanks for a great Idea. I hope everyone gets on board.

Cheers

Well your off and running with the Vancouver Aquarium idea.
This will be great. You can count me in. If I can help on the arrangements please let me know.

Have you made contact with the Vancouver Aquarium people and are they reseptive.

Ps I got my system changes complete on the weekend and the calurpa donation you gave me is safely in its new home.

Well.. the Event planner left the Vancouver Aquarium (the caterer answered her emails to explain why no one is getting back to me)...

so it might take a while...

It looks like its super expensive to do it all at the Aquarium.. I might opt to get us the Behind the scenes tour (something different and special), then get Anthony to plan us dinner...

That's the tentative plan right now... more soon... :)
