I bet the front piece of glass or acrylic cost more then my entire tank.

What he needs is an eel!

Wow i think the reason for the fake corals is the amount of light needed you would need to runn 1000 watt MH for SPS and 400 watt halides for LPS and Softies. Nice tank though. Wish i had one.
If you can afford to build a tank that big, I don't think the monthly power bill would be too significant a problem..
your right much the stocking cost would be through the roof thpugh LR alone would kill ya let alone fish you could buy your coral like most of us here do as frags from each other but man $$$

I think that will end up being a fish only tank. It does posses the possibility for a huge aquaculturing project if he ever wants to through 1000 lbs og live rock in there.

Ummm, I would have to say "ya" since it is probably starphire or some other type of low iron glass.

nope it's acrylic.
Would be sweet to get a reef slope going with a bunvh of SPS and a school a blue damselfish.

i would have thought that it might have be easier to build the tank in place rather than building it off site and using a crane to get it in there.
the house is half built it would get all dusty and stuff. always wiping it so the silicone would stick.

Huh? I read your post twice and I still don't quite understand what you're trying to get at.... silicone on an acrylic tank? wiping what? :crazyeye:
Perhaps reading your post before hitting the submit button would be a good idea  .
Anyways, thats a sweet tank, imagine the kind of equipment you'd need to run that sucker

Sorry there rich i always though you siliconed a acrylic tank with special silicone. My bad. but still the acrylic would always be dusty and there is the risk of stuff bumping into the tank and breaking it or scratching it.
