Just picked up a Nikon 4300 today. It is a 4.0mp with 3x opti & 4x dig. zoom. It's great for close up shots & macros because it allows pictures to be taken as close as 1.6" as opposed to the 6" for a Canon A75, which I was planning to buy. I bought the demo model @ London Drugs. Normally $520, on special for $300, but the manager dropped it another $50 when I mentioned that it was scuffed up. $250 for a primo digital camera by Nikon

Anybody else have one & what are your opinions about this make & model?

I took some shots of my fish & the pictures are so much clearer than the earlier ones I took with my father-in-law's Canon 4.0.

Need to buy a 512meg CF card. Atic computers has 'em for $50.

Just wondering, what do you (other reefers) use to take pics of your corals/clams/fish?

Hey Ant,

Good Choice in Cameras. I am a bit biased in that I am a Nikon Man :)

If you get that 512 CF get the Ultra 2 or high speed version of the card. It's more expensive but it is a lot more convienient when takeing a series of pictures.

In my family we have a Minolta Dimage X 2.0 (size of a pack of cards) a Nikon 4300 and a Nikon 5200.

I've been playing around with my friends Panasonic FZ3 & FZ20...... great cameras with image stablization.

Cheers,

I have a Canon PowerShot A85. It works quite well for me but I still need to learn how to use it. Oh ya I also have an underwater camera case for it  .

I am using the Nikon Coolpix 5400. A tad complicated for my tastes but it takes great pictures.

I use a canon G3, its great i can get a close as almost touching the object with the macro, when i bought it it was one of the highest canon models beside crazy professional ones. I love my camara, but i want to buy some new lenses but i have no idea what to look for.
