Clam on the right found at Golds this week. Clam on the left with bryopsis :frown: is not from Golds. I'm going to point that out to my buddy the sea hare  when I'm done posting this .

If I remember right the prices were from 39 to 69. The one pictured above is about 4" or 100mm. They did have smaller ones approx. 2" length that have very nice color. Its hard to pick a clam looking thru the side of the tank  Thru the side it is blue and from the top it is green.
Don't quote me on the prices as I wasn't really paying much attention when told.

So that is Bryopsis eh  , I can't say I like it. Do you have any idea where that stuff comes from Kari

Bob, I think it comes from poop  Not really sure but have been reading notes of it being related to chronic low alk and high nutrient levels. Good to hear you don't have any in your tank.

No honestly I have never seen it, so whatever I am doing wrong at least I don't have algae problems.

Steve,

Here's a pic of the bryopsis (circled in red)

Also, do you have any idea what the other stuff (circled yellow) is? The color is accurate in the photo. Taken under 10k halide. Its not rigid, more like a caulerpa and purple in color. I haven't seen it before. I was thinking I'd put it in my main tank and pretend it's a Bali acro

Thanks

Give it to someone else, back to the store or get some more for it to eat. It seems to snack on a variety including diatoms.

My sea hare started eating nori, and did fine. You can also feed them algae wafers. Only thing is I found you need to break the wafers into smallish crumbs, and hold them right in front otherwise the sea hare doesn't seem to notice them.

(You may notice my use of the past tense, however. I unfortunately lost my sea hare in a powerhead incident in December. :frown: Somehow got its foot stuck in the strainer. I cut away the strainer and I thought it was going to recover, but he was stressed, and I think the worms just kinda sensed that distress during the night and finished the job. I should have tried isolating him.)

yes, it is.

hmm is it a Canadian spelling or something. the spell check doesn't think it is tight and doesn't offer anything like it as an alternative except for proved.

my spell check likes it. It isn't a special Canadian word or anything...

Ok I think your getting a little off topic here, this thread is about clams not spell checks.. lets get back to the original thread.

So now that the spelling part is all taken care of  , does anybody recognize the purple stuff? That would help take care of my off topic part.
Thanks
