I'm looking for ideas, products or video on how to build a light rack that can move up and down, with or without power.
I got a 300 merainland deep dimension and my plan is to run a two units of ATI 60" four bulb with LEDs running fiwn the middle. I'm thinking ecotech or kesdils for lights.
The frame I'm thinking of making it out of aluminium for the lights.
Thanks for any input or ideas.

I used aluminum rails and a ratcheting type strap for lowering and raising

Is this a 6' tank?
I'd stick with the 2 x 60" fixtures and add more T5s between them to give 8 bulbs coverage front to back.
T5s are the bomb for coral growth.
If you're looking for shimmer, then go ahead with LEDs, but the cost doesn't play into growth IMO.

Spend your money on T5s, and for your existing fixtures, buy the hanging kits for the ATIs.
I installed my Powermodule with the hanging kit and love it.
Piece of 1/4" flat bar x 4' screwed to the ceiling on studs. Hanging kit installed through flat bar.
Hanging kit comes with raising/lowering cams

Yes Greg it's the 6' tank. I have a total 8 60" bulbs.
I like the shimmer in the tank. I will have to take a look at the AI's.
I was looking at linear actuators to raise the light to work on the tank. Will need some pullies to get it to frame to come up nice and even.

My ATI cables only need to be pulled upwards, and they lock while pulling.
Nothing fancy and no huge costs. Hold the cable lock and push the fixture upwards.
When lowering, all you do is push the release while supporting the fixture so they don't fall too fast.

Come to my house and have a look buddy
