I got a 200 gallon tank with 200lbs of live rock . I want to fit a bigger sump be require to remove one of my support braces to do it . I am a mechanic by trade not a carpenter so not sure if it will be fine for the 2 mins it takes for me to swap the tanks . Heres some photos of the stand build thanks

The one I am pointing at is the one I want to remove temporarily https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190120/a6a4dbe4c43a41e90e1992725d3762f1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190120/4a798cd60dbbee74684f555a4006bbf0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190120/e46ad69d376dabbc0d67e1429d7d3c5b.jpg

What about taking the doors off. Building a temporary brace/beam to extend under the tank to be supported from the sides before you remove the brace.

I remember with my 75g bow front it had a similar brace. I would be hesitant in removing the Center brace without some support. I’m even thinking a 2x4 on a jack stand or something. Just enough to allow you to work around.

Drain 80% of the water just before the swap.

I'll try building another support like frogger suggests , the side panels sadly is part of the support . I will reduce the water and see what happens lol

Ya 50% less water will make a huge difference in weight and consider it a large WC

Hi Man,

I did this myself twice. once on a 180 gallon, and again on a 90 gallon, both times i drained the tank down as far as i could, then just removed it. I installed my new sump, then jacked the sagging cross brace up and slid the old piece back into position, glued it and screwed it on.

Although i did it multiple times, i was paranoid and having heart palpitations each time i did, so i still don't recommend it. Do it if you have no choice is my advice.

Cheers!
