View Full Version : Calgary Reefers get together

Ok, get your mind outta the gutter - not that kinda reefer

Was visiting fish today, he mentioned he'd like to have a get together of the calgary reefers. Meet n greet, swap b.s. (maybe a few frags) get to know some of the local crowd... I sure wouldn't mind meeting some more reefers.

Any interest? Anyone got a larger house / location to have such an event (my condo is a bit small) I'm sure attendee's would be willing to bring beverages / snacks.

I have the same problem. My place is too small. What we could do is half go to your place, and half to mine. Then after a couple of hours we switch attendees. OK, just an idea.

Sounds like fun. Later in the month of January is better for me since I'm going south for a visit to my fishes relatives in the Caribbean in the second week. My house is also a bit small to host since I've yet to finish the basement.

Ok, we'll forgive you Ed, on condition that if you go snorkeling or diving you have to bring back pictures to show at the meet!

Well my house surely is not a mansion but the basement is developed at least.

I can't get in the mood for a BBQ - never mind. But if anyone wants to have me over for a turkey sandwich in early January, let me know.

Alan have you never tried BBQ'ing your turkey?! Oh man you have to try it. It's the only way I'll cook a turkey when it's my turn to do it.

OK Tony you barbecue the bird and slice it up, and we will make sure there is bread on hand for the sandwiches. :smilecol:

You intrigue me, Tony - and I do have a high-dome lid on my grill... I think I need more information.

course, that's not something to experiment with when we have 20 of my family coming over...

Well, it's not really any faster than cooking one in an oven. But hey, it's a BARBEQUE!!! I dunno - give me a BBQ and I'm happy to cook anything. Can you BBQ ice cream?

Ever tried deep fried? Once you do, you'll never have it any other way.

I think we're waiting on canadian man to volunteer a date that's free in his schedule :)

If he's fallen asleep at the wheel... We could always have a big ol kawphy meet at like pizza hut by golds or something :)

When you have it all figured a new thread should be created where a person can post what kinds of frags and other offerings they will bring or need. IE: I need zoanthids....

I am a rookie at marine tanks but would like to meet and greet some others in the hobby. I have a 130 gal tank started in Sept 04 and am learning as I go.

 Thanks for the welcome. I am interested to see what and how other people set up their systems. At the moment I have a community tank being slowly coaxed into a reef with fish but I think I must be about $10K away from what (I think) I want to end up with. This hobby is a bigger money pit than my car but I am really enjoying it. Looking forward to a meeting.

Catspaw (A. humilis) - that rare gold color

I had a nice piece of Catspaw that Sleeman brought me. It was purple, and growing nicely. On day I looked closely at the tank, and noticed it was upside down (one of the rambunctious animals did it). I turned it right side up, but it was now white, and dead.
