But same go's for big spenders too. I don't mind paying for nice pieces. But don't Jack up prices on the guys who do spend then post it for half the price the next day. I got a bit frustrated with that last mounth. Or charging full price for potential heads and maybe or should be colors. If your going to charge by colors you should have it colored up for that price. I wish their was more places to by or trade. I know I'm new and just meeting ppl.

I can’t justify selling anything that is off in health ,color ect...
We’re all at different levels in this hobbie.
Years ago I just liked the $5-10 bin for corals brown zoas leathers, I just liked see if I could keep them alive. There was no internet , only books that didn’t really help . Look at us now ... we keep wet pets with a little help from our friends .
But that been said yellow Tanges were 25 bucks and queen and emperor angles were only 80-90 bucks.
$100 corals were the size of dodge ball .

Rare and named corals cost $$$, we don’t see corals imported the size of basket balls now you pay by the inch. I know it’s crazy . But we’re not blowing up the reefs any more! Thank God!!!!
Corals that have been tanks for years seem to hang in there when things go sideways.

Some very important news for M E

Please take the time to read this entire thing as it impacts not only M E but the industry as a whole.

I have a better idea now about what the Indonesian coral issues and to be honest, I am quite concerned that there may not be a quick and easy solution to this. For those that don't know, there is massive corruption throughout the industry in Indonesia for both exporters and government officials. CITES are often used for corals that they were not issued under and other loopholes are often exploited and overlooked by officials for the right amount of money. This current situation is apparently due to that corruption and the problems surrounding it as the Fisheries department is aware of the various issues and is trying to address it.
This could potentially impact the industry in a SIGNIFICANT manner. no Indonesian coral has left the country since the beginning of May and there is no solution in sight.

Indonesia supplies probably about at least 75 percent of the coral in our tanks. Stores are already running out of coral in various places and clearly this is problematic in that there is no new places to replace the supply chain. You could see prices skyrocket for corals in the new future as the demand is not being met by supply.

Realistically, regardless of what happens with this current deadlock in Indonesia, you will probably see the sourcing of wild corals significantly being reduced over the next few years. Which means coral such as brains which take long periods of time to grow and difficult to propagate will be rare and exceedingly expensive.

The industry will need to move to propagation of coral on a massive scale if we want to survive. I will be devoting approximately a third of our new space to growing corals so that we can reduce our dependence from outside sources..I just hope that we have enough time to gather the necessary stock to do so.

I personally think that this move by the industry is an important one and one that needs to be addressed. We do need to conserve and protect our struggling reefs as they are, in my opinion, one of the main basis of life on the planet.

how this impacts us immediately.

Effective May 22 - M E will no longer discount coral until the Indonesian market opens again.
By May 25 - All sale discounts will be removed off our website.

I can't justify selling discounted corals in a time when I am not sure when I will be getting more.

We will continue to discount fish and inverts as they are not being impacted by this coral problem.

Nor will I be increasing the prices of current stock..However, as the situation develops in Indonesia, this may change and prices could skyrocket for certain items.

I do hope that our customers can understand our stance on this matter and we do appreciate your continued support throughout these times.

It happens to me weekly because I have such a coral addiction ....
I buy what I like than its on sale at a hughs sale price a week later.
I’ve also found if I don’t jump on the coral that I want it might be gone
And you may never see it again ...
I do hate the gouging but nice stuff still gets the $$$$$ till it growing like weeks in tanks in your area!!!!

Ghetto nitrate reducer little thing I’ve been doing for years.
Easy free and works great for me , takes awhile to seed but
now it’s rocks. Works best when scraped often and kept short .
Grows well from light spill from my reverse lighting in the sump area.

Low light areas of the cora will stay that nice green .

Sounds good buddy! I placed it it after work and it’s about half way down in the tank. Hoping it maintains that brilliant color as I don’t want it to be solid red like many of the photos I have seen. Definitely cook me another Cadillac and I will take it off your hands when its ready! :mrgreen:

Crazy day in the reef tank . Making room for the wet friends that didn’t get new homes at fragfest and the ones I bought ... I’m so bad coral hoarder !
Well this story goes back a bit like in may.
I came home from a job that I was out of town to see my sps very pale
and washed out . Well it turns out it was iron poising my return pump impeller had cracked the nylon case and the magnet was rusting .
Hard to find out what was causing this but I got lucky .
I thought all was good ... wrong .
My hammers and frog spawn had gotten so big they broke the frag rack from the weight today .
So I went and made a new rack and look what I found sticking out of the side of my frog spawn it was growing around it .
Well I have good colours on the corals now I look forward to even better coloured acros .

Check out these new led chips tri color haven’t tryed them yet but I will at some point reef spectrums .
Recently I promoded my black boxes with new dual chips very powerful .
Corals responded and color and growth have been very good .

It was a good tank citizen for a long time but it goes on kill mode a couple times a day during lights on .
Where it has sent out the sweepers it has lost its colour.
So a heads up on this one to give it a lot of room and keep in in a low flow area to ruduce the sweepers and loss of colour.

Bought a small less than 1/2” fresh clipping on a big blob of glue that quickly encrusted to the 3/4” frag plug that was in October of 2017.

My dosing intake is getting a bit much I have diy 2 litre containers.
Tank is gobbling up 1700ml of part A(Ca)and 1700ml part B(Dkh) balanced equal
parts every week.
So I found the perfect 4L containers great price $2.99 at Toys R Us .
3/16 ridged air line from LFS $3.00
Small amount of air line that I had in my aquarium hoarding box.😈
Total build $12 (3 containers)

These are my favourite 2 tools that I use on a daily basis in my tanks the wezsnips are from Home Depot and the callipers are from Princess Auto both are stainless steel and very high quality. The princess auto forceps do start to corrode after a while. Mine are close to 10years old and rarely get rinsed. I’d recommend them too.

My Jason Fox Jack- O- Lantern has been rampaging lately.
It was a good tank citizen for a long time but it goes on kill mode a couple times a day during lights on .
Where it has sent out the sweepers it has lost its colour.
So a heads up on this one to give it a lot of room and keep in in a low flow area to ruduce the sweepers and loss of colour.How were you able to get corals from Jason Fox into Canada?

Yup yup easy easy . I bought a verry small frag from frag box ca. I’m growing it out hooking up local reefers in my area I made 5 small frags on 3/4 plugs grew them out and took them to the Edmonton’s frag fest in October that Albert and Harvy have a hand in . The frags sold right away! Thank to all at 19Islands for all the rare and great corals that I got from them .��������Check out my chalice that I got from Albert there just getting better and better ��,page 8 of the kitchen.

Drink some green beer keep your hands wet in your reef.
Look what I found in my coral grave yard this is a sun coral . It was a cultured coral from Indonesia. They used a steel plate for weight and covered it with cement this has been decaying in my tank for years . I have been chasing my tail over iron poising 3rd time is the charm hope I’m done with decaying rusting iron in my reef .

Has anyone in Canada been able to order and receive Indo corals .
I haven’t heard much talk, can anyone give the real scoop on shipping and prices.

Any one ID this little guy grows to about 1/2 inch
I know it a type of conch snail
Breeds in my tank had them for over 15 years!
