Hey Guys,

I swear I started a thread with this subject before. For the life of me I can't find it. Anyways lets get another one going. I know there has been a good deal of these Bali pieces coming into B.C so lets see them in your tanks. Here's my two favorite.

Here's a pic of this one I got in June.

And now in December

Very interested to see this thread progress.

Agreed. Let's try to keep this in the spirit in which Jamie intended. Live bali frags only for the rest of the thread, k?

Not nearly as brown in real life. More a honey blonde ale colour, with blue tips like the bags under your eyes the morning after too many honey blonde ales.

Great pieces there Jamie
I really like the second piece, so much in fact that I guess I couldn't supply enough Stella's to get a frag of that one eh
Where are you getting these exotic acro's from?
LFS or your buddies down south?

Aquattro
12-08-2004, 05:47 AM
Rich, these are all pieces available at most of the western Canadian LFS. They all come in from the same supplier, so there is no secret source. Hidden Reef gets large orders in over that side of the water.

where is your tutorial on top-down shooting, BTW? Hold on tight.

Steve, well aren't you a party pooper.
(got to get some pics of the new ones though) Why don't you do that. Corals always look better with some tissue on them.

Scavenger, honey blonde ale MMMMMM honey blonde ale, now you got my attention.

Rich, I guess I couldn't supply enough Stella's to get a frag of that one eh
Oh I'm sure you could. Like Brad said about the where from question. Those pieces posted are from Hidden Reef. I believe they got a good price on them right now too.

albert, Thanks for playing. Nice piece, there is a nice selection of milli type pieces in these bali orders.

Now lets see some more.

ya these corals have been in my tank for about a week since the pic were taken (maybe two) and I took them the day after I got them.

If you look in the dead middle of the pink Milli (last pic) you will see the reason it has no polyp extension. the bad type of acro crab and since its removal the coral has been happy as a clam.

NOw thats the spirit Steve. I really like the first one in your top down shots. Steve for the most part getting good shots of blue/purple colored corals isn't the easiest and perhaps the hardest. You just have to play with angles and setting. Also shutting off the actinic lighting helps. For the life of me I can't get a good top down shot of my Cali Tort it's just too purple for the camera to get a clear shot even with the actinics off. Just when I think I got it and it looks good in the LCD I bring it up on the PC and nope it sucks. One of these days I'll get it.

Got this one back in May. Unfortunately, it suffered some tissue loss during the time when I lost about 70% of my Acros. Luckily this survived. It has potential but it is currently under my center brace right now and not receiving a whole lot of light.

This picture is from May.

Rich, I did change my addy some time ago. If you have jcross1@shaw.ca then yeah I changed it. I wanted something different and put my creative mind to work and came up with jcross2@shaw.ca  Kidding aside I used to have high speed then I down graded to the light speed and couldn't keep the same addy.

There sure isn't many pics being posted in this thread. I'm sure there has to be more of us that have gotten some of the Bali's. So get out the camera's and lets see them.

When I first got it back in November

As of yesterday. I know it's even hard for me to believe this is the same coral.

Rich, I get the feeling you like that Monti.

Alan, I would tend to agree with you as far as close up shots go. Over time as it grows and finished the color transformation I believe the new look will be better as far as a full picture is concerned. What I'm saying is when viewing the tank as a whole, I believe the new look will stand out more. At least thats what I'm hoping for.

Hey Rus, Thanks Yeah that one is table forming. I just didn't have a place to put it so I had to put it vertical. I'm sure I'll soon have more then enough room to put it how it should go. Thats if it doesn't grow to fast and start tabling out the way it's sitting now. :) Hey if your free today your welcome to stop by as I'll just be tinkering with the new room. Give me a shout. Still have my #?

Also yeah the are from Mike @ Hidden Reef I picked that one out at like 3:00am

Well here are some progression pics. Just as a note there are no actinic on in the "now" pics. On of my VHO burnt out (finally after 3 years) so I have it off right now till I get new bulbs, so the pics are pure 10000K MH coloring.

Hey John, NIce stuff. Looks like there just may be enough people on the island to buy up those Bali's after all. I like the tricolor best myself.

P.S I don't recall all the pieces you grabbed but I was sure you bought a Cali Tort. You like the bubblegum over that? hmmm Just goes to show we all have our own unique tastes. I always like to ask people that come over which one is their favorite and I pretty much always get a different answer. Which is intresting and a neat game to play. Warning do not play this game with non-reefers or you may end up with an assualt charge. For some reason they always pick out something you wish wasn't in there and you've been trying everything to get it out.

Hey Steve,

Yeah the new tanks coming along slowly. I just put up the tank wall this past weekend as well change the entrance way around abit. So now it's on to the electrical end of things. I'd expect it to still to be a few months till I get water in it. Every project reqiures so much thought and even then I'm sure I'll make a few mistakes. :)

I picked up a Bali Acro a week ago of Humilus, just arrived that day at the LFS, it's mostly brown right now with green polyps, any of you guys picked up one of these before & got some nice color change from it over a period of time.?

I've had it at the botom of my tank for the past week & will move it up mid-way this week-end, very thick branched so will try to create some good flow around it, particularly the base.
