I've been at this for just over a year now. Some days I feel like I'm still struggling! Theirs so much to learn and Google seems to have such conflicting info. I've just switched towards sps and I'm struggling with stability, test kits skimmer and now apex.
Is their such thing as reef clubs in the lowermainland? I think getting to know ppl with the same hobble might make life a bit easier

There's a frag swap coming up in July (probably on Mitchell Island), should be a lot of seasoned local people showing up to talk with.

Canreef is a good place to ask questions and get feedback. Lots of people with rest tanks on here that will share struggles hey have overcome and still face. Sometimes constructive criticism is the best avenue

Thanks guys. I just found this site and tend to lean on it more now.
I was a bit frustrated watching everything slowly go white. I've been reading all day and I'm guessing my tank is re- cycling. I just moved and reset up and used the old sand.
Also my ro blew up and I was using tap water for 2 months till they gave me a new one. I just did a 60% water change last week over 7 days. I just set up a phosphate reactor and next week will try a nouther few sets of water changes

As mentioned above, there is an overwhelming amount of information out there and unfortunately most people don't understand that their methods don't work for every scenario. I started the hobby just over a year ago and I don't think there will ever be a day where I don't have something useful to learn. Definitely a lot of lessons to be learned when trying to cut corners. You get every bit of what you put into it.

All that said, the CanReef community is very knowledgeable and a cut above most other places where I've tried exchanging information. Reef2Reef is another excellent forum as well. Lots of great information to read in their user written articles.

If you post more details about any issues you're currently struggling with, I'm sure at least one of us can help.

I have had some prior experience reefing back when the earth was still cooling, but decided to jump back in after a 15 year break. I found this forum quite useful and informative. It also put me in contact with a fantastic local reefer who lives 5 minutes away. He has a ton of experience and is extremely knowledgeable, it has been great to get to know him and now I can call him up just to chat about all sorts of reef stuff. Thanks Matt.

A bunch of us usually meet at the Townhall Pub in Mallardville once in a while. Keep an eye out for the next announcement.

Cool! When/where is this info shared?
