Are you guys coming to Betta Show this weekend?
Florida for a Betta Show? Sounds like fun. Last time I was in Florida it was for the MACNA. That was fun! :)

xandra,
You must know we are in Canada ...
CanReef .. Canadian Reefing community.
I thought when you first posted you were joking. If you were serious then you have no idea where we are. Many of us can't afford to travel to such events as you spoke of and probably most of us are not interested in Bettas.
This is a Saltwater Community you have connected with, and there is only 1 Saltwater Betta we deal with. Many of us do not keep 1 as they are not the best to house.
Good luck with your Meet.
Don't expect to see many of us there.

I would have to pass. I would love to go to MACNA but would have to save my pennies. That being said I'm not in to Betta's

Although the thread does belong in a small box hanging on the side of an aquarium the peanut gallery has enjoyed the banter
:agrue: I'm subbed!

I love it. I wonder if it's completely lost on the original poster?

I never stated they are difficult to keep. I was referring to their compatibility in a mixed reef tank.
And for the record, I have nothing against Siamese Fighting Fish. I bred them 40 years ago, trading the offspring to the LFS. I had a half dozen females and 9 males in mason jars. Trying to produce a Delta was the goal and it's good clean fun for a kid.
BC Aquaria would probably be a better site for the OP to be using for this kind of thread ...

Mine is in a mixed reef :) I even have a helfrich and a peppermint shrimp in there. I was a glint in my dad's eye 40 years ago lol! You win :)

It's not a contest, you'll be our age soon enough
I'll bet when your Bettas are full size you'll be searching for your firefish and shrimp, and probably any snails/hermies too
I'd love to have one, but like fish that are active daytime and have small fish.

I had the same one for about 12 years and never had an issue. Only thing it would go after is the ghost shrimp I'd feed him intentionally. He was in a fully mixed reef quite successfully. I had to euthanize him when his HLLE go so bad he couldn't swim anymore. Sad day. I've have a new one for about 3 years in my new system and it's a model citizen. Certainly much more chill than a good portion of my wrasses :)
