Hi there I'm looking to find out the proper size for a return pump that will be providing flow to the following:

150 Gallon tank and dump.
1/4 HP Chiller that needs 600 GPH
2 - Vertex 1.5 Reactors (Carbon, Biopellets)

This pump needs to be also needs to be submersible.

Thanks in advance!

The return pump is located where the 1" goes down on the back right corner of the photo. There will probably be two 45 degree fittings being glued in before that 1" tee. Hope this photo helps!

You're probably needing on the higher end of 1500-2000 GPH @ 5 or 6 foot head.

1000 GPH for the tank
600 for the chiller
100 each for the reactors.

That's what I was kind of thinking. I have posted a picture so maybe this will help make it easier to calculate head loss.

Yeah don't get caught up in the calculating. It's 6 feet. Trust me.

If you reeeeeeally care about your flow rate (which most dont), get the fancy new flow rate sensors from Neptune.

I have 150 gal dt, 75 gal refugium immediately below and the sump in the basement (actually crawl space under a split level landing - 42" head height). I use a Jecod DCS 9,000 ltr with variable control I have it set on #6 out of 10 levels. It's almost silent. Hopefully, with your calculations, it will be enough.

Given the picture you posted and the description, with 1" pipe, the 45° and 90° elbows, assuming 1 check valve and the ball valves and unions shown, the calculations are pretty close to a maximum flow out the top of 1,070 gallons unless you go with a pressure rated pump.

Is there any LFS that carry these? I might just do that! There a good bang for the buck too.

I have a working Speed Wave 2640 that I just pulled off a 120 gal. You're welcome to try it for a couple of weeks & if it works, we can work out a trade or something?

Thanks again for letting me test out your Jabeo 12000! I'm hoping this does the trick :D. You and your wife were super friendly and helpful!
