I recently added a matted filefish to the tank to take care or some minor aiptasia. But since then my slimer has what looks to be little bite marks. What do you think? I have not witnessed him touching corals, but I think they are far more active at night.

Are any of your other corals looking similar or is it primarily the green skimmer?

The polyps still look intact, have you lost flow in that area of the tank recently?

Dip it to be sure... if not worms then the coral will heal even with bites from fish...

My friend had a orange spot file fish in his sps tank and while no polyps were out the colours on his sps was intense...especially the Millepora species.

No. Flow is still excellent. All other corals look just fine and normal. I brought this frag up from a 1 inch piece, no issues. So I dont think this would be pests.

BUT in better news....I came home at lunch today to see the filefish nibbling at it. So I finally witnessed it. I will catch him asap.

I have seen them suckling on polyps before so look for spots that are missing polyps then for sure it's eating it.

Saw him chomping down on the ends of the coral tonight. Just nasty! Look at these tips. Really sucks because he destroyed any and all signs of aiptasia in my tank.

Time to trade him in, at least it should be easy to catch! Lol
