Trying to get my drain setup to be a little more quite. Right now I'm running a Durso(although an incorrect one because it's only 1" and I have to throttle it back with ball valves to get it quite enough to live with) Right now it's a corner overflow with a 3/4 and 1" bulkhead on each side. I've been running this setup for about a year but i just can't stand hearing the water anymore well watching tv. Here's a basic diagram of how my tank is setup at the moment. I should be able to get a return behind the tank if need be.My return pump is a aquaclear 110 that puts out around 900gph at 0'. Any tips appreciated.

I run a herbie on my setup and it is almost dead silent, well worth the cost of the gate valve

On your picture you have your durso pipes at the bottom of the over flow boxes, is this correct or just how it looks on the drawing? If the stand pipes are that low then you would be getting a lot of water noise from it splashing to the bottom of the overflow and it would be difficult to adjust the air inlet of the stand pipe to get a smooth flow down the pipe to prevent surging.

Totally agree, too hard to throttle with a ball valve.

As much as I like Herbie drains, your tank isn't drilled for one since one of your drains is only 3/4", so that's out of the question unless you want to start drilling the tank.

First step, replace your Durso with 1 1/4" plumbing.

yeah looking like Herbie won't work too well. It's really tight even with the 1" so I'm not sure i cant fit the 1.25" PVC, ill give it a try today just to get something going. I was thinking of doing a bean animal type with one overflow having the return and trickle overflow, with the other having the siphon and emergency, what's peoples thoughts on that.
