I'm mounting my double ended PFO fixtures on my 90G today and because of the size of the fixture and the limited room I have to work with from the back of the tank to the front, I think I have to mount them left to right, rather than front to back, in order to mount the actinic lighting as well.

Mounted this way:

The solid lines represent the canopy and the dotted lines represent the lighting fixture.

Will this effect anything or should this still be sufficient?

I don't see why you can't do it perpendicular the way we looked at it yesterday. Is it because of the actinics? They really are designed to to mount that way, but if you need to, parallel will suffice.

Because of the length of the fixture, there is no room left to mount the actinics. I just remeasured and I can get it to fit but it means mounting them only an inch from the edge of the canopy and only an inch in between the fixture and the actinics. What do you think?

That's fine. Just make sure the cords aren't touching any bulbs.

Cool. Is there any harm in mounting actinic lighting to a wood canopy without anything seperating it from the wood?

the mounts stand it off from the wood. They don't generate enough heat to cause any problems.

How about the PFO fixtures. Can I screw them right to the hood of the canopy?

I might try to add a spacer of some sort. Give it a half inch air space.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's an option. Is that a problem you think?
