Not when your considering setting up an 800g tank

They're only about $1000USD in the US, apparently. J&L might be going for some serious profit.

I wonder if I could manage to get that past the accountants and into the office tank :)

A little secret for all you guys out there:

I've seen these eels on the lists for about $600 + shipping cost. Assuming, worse case scenario, they take up the whole box, that only works out to something like $800 (Vancouver) + GST.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, you didn't hear it from me.

But can you get me a mated pair at those prices ?

Good question. I recall seeing them sold in pairs at equvalent prices, but with saltwater fish, I seriously question any "mated" tags associated with them.

I've heard of them paired in aquariums on several occasions. Not that I'm suggesting that they're exclusively monogamous in the wild (adultery is common in many species besides humans), but when there's only one male and one female in a tank, they don't have much of a choice.

I think a pair of Genicanthus sp. angels would also be an excellent acquisition, and significantly less expensive.
