So I know this has probably been beat to death, but I was wondering what people's thoughts are on silicone for tanks? I've read through a few past threads from last year, and wondering if the GE scs1200 is still the consensus?

Can't beat the price on the SCS1200 verses Aqueon @ nearly $20/cartridge

Anybody have any experiences with the Aqueon?

That's what I use. I don't care that it costs more than hardware store silicone because I don't have to worry about bad ingredients from unknown product changes or some other scary thing.

RTV silicone worked really well for me. It holds better than the Aqueon.

So for my next question, roughly how much silicone would I require for a 79x18x16 tank with eurobrace?

check thebrinc member on canreef .. he put his massive 10ft long tank together himself on his property and used RTV 108 or the 100 series.... glass thickness does play a part to to help increase the safety factor. I believe one aims at 9X allowing for bubbles on the seal, etc. There on formulae on the hydrostatic forces based on your tank dimensions.
