Ya I'll be down too. I don't think one person can handle all of it. I ll share the load with few people

Etaloche

Yes feel free to share the load to whomever picks it up.

Please be mindful that Xerxes is looking to get rid of this stuff in one or two loads, hence why it's free. If you're not going to show up with a cube van and take a crap load of stuff, you may want to reconsider. Let's not waste his time and treat it like a swap meet, picking through this and that.

I can lend a hand if someone is going to go pick stuff up.

Same here, I'm interested in some of the stuff if someone ends up picking it up from him. I have a hatchback that can fit quite some stuff along with a roof rack if the person picking it up needs some help.

thx Wardog,

for all the very very eager ppl who want a couple of Freebie tanks, this is not the the case here.

ud need a one tonne truck to accomodate the shelving units alone. u may want to unbolt the metal stacking units - up to u.

this is an oppurtunity for ~ 3 ppl to setup a mini fish/coral operation, or store this stuff, then do wat u want.

may i suggest "a group" distribute it to the canreef community as a communal resource, or if possible keep it together as a communal operation, or a swap/donation/baby-sitting... center for the benefit of GVRD canreefers.

But y'all gota arrange for the space to accomadate this stuff.

if a canreef "committee" wants to go the communal route i think that wud b fantastic. letme know if thrz a core group of ppl who have the capacity to do this.

thx,

my iphone6 photos r "too large" to attach it says

someone suggested what im proposing is a Canreef Co-op store. i grew up in the 80's so i dont really know the concept.

is it owned and managed by Canreef members, with volunteers aswell as hired staff? so we dont buy and sell like a store, and just use the aquaruim work shop/space for our own communal use? do we crowd source for funds or get a government co-op business grant, to lease a space?

pls post replies here if anyone wants to initiate this Canreef Co-op store/space.

A coop would be cool.. maybe a coral bank where one can put your corals there when on holidays or as a spare insurance policy.. I know some woodworkers who have a space where they do their crafts sharing a common facility..... however, nowadays, space is so expensive unless some farmer guys a bunch of free space for storing. Just food or thought. Would live to set up a fish/coral room like some members here.

There is a very distinct possibility I have space for this. I'm looking into the nuts and bolts of it right now, but seriously need to get my hands on the lot to make sure the space I have in mind works. So consider me seriously interested.

I would be interested. We could set it up as a non profit organization as well.

correct, i have entrusted Chairman Gary to headup this co-op venture. for all those whose request for Freebies, were denied, then told me off, luckly there are second chances.

i encourage the ppl who contacted me to contribute to this cooperative effort.

I have just spoken to Xerxes (Shawn) on the phone. All items are currently spoken for. Please do not contact him. He is overwhelmed with messages and calls.

Another thread will be started in regards to the co-op idea.

Thanks for everyone's interest.

Thanks for that bud. I'd be quite hesitant to throw out the chairman part. I'm merely a tiny cog in the process. We will start by making sure everything is removed from the shadow of the wrecking ball and then we have time to come up with a plan that makes sense and falls within the spectrum of what Xerxes was hoping to see happen. There are many directions we can go. In the end it is our hope to find the most effective way to benifit as many hobbyists as possible in a not-for-profit manner. Please be patient. This will take some time if we want to do this properly. This kind of generosity offered up by Xerxes does not happen often and we can't blow such a wonderful opportunity by making hasty decisions
