I am hoping this is not bryopsis but I'm not sure I just noticed it growing on my gyre a week or two ago .

its probably a form of bryopsis, not the really bad annoying pull your hair out kind tho from the looks of it

I would pull out your gyre and kill the algae asap. Otherwise small bits will end up being shot around your tank and you'll have a much bigger problem later.

It's not growing anywhere other than the power heads that I can see so I am going to soak them over night and give them a clean. I must say I was warned about this I should have listened oops .

Its really nasty stuff. I got two small strands of it on a zoa frag from a reputable vendor, and its has completely overtaken my frag tank. Luckily its staying there, but 100's of dollars worth of frags are pretty much screwed. Get that out of there and nuke it before it spreads!

You could dips the zoas and some lps in hydrogen peroxide to kill it off the frags. I have used up to 50/50 mix on zoas with no adverse affects. And 1:4 on some lps.

I have had really good luck with getting rid of Bryopsis using Elysia crispata and some stringent nutrient control in the past.
