Trying to find a better solution to my current 5 gallon bucket that I fill with RODI water. Seems like every other day I need to top off my top off. Need something bigger. Any ideas?

How big is your display tank? I run a 95 gallon with a 20 gallon garbage can lasts me on average 7 days before refilling

Critical question.

I built my own custom glass ATO, 11 Gallons. Lasts 7 days on my 65 gal tank.

^^^Nicely done as usual Warren!
I use a Vittles Vault Outback 50 from Petsmart (13 gallons). Lasts 16 days on a 50 gallon tank just had to cut a hole in the lid for the cord and hose

Want a bigger storage tank ?

55g drum is the solution

Craigslist search 55g drum

Removable top is the best

Those big used plastic 55gal barrels are cheep and awesome if you have the room. We use them to collect rain water for gardening. But one won't fit under my tank so I use a simple plastic 15gal garbage can which holds about 5 days worth. What made the biggest difference for me was running the line from my RO/DI directly to it and replenishing it every couple of days by having a solenoid switch on and off on a timer (apex controller). The can also has a float valve to prevent overflowing and so far there have been no issues and a lot less bucket brigading. In our old rental I was able to run the line across the ceiling which was unfinished. In the new house the line is routed through the crawl space and hidden behind the baseboard trim.

FILUR bins at ikea are great I have 2 beside each other one for top up and one for fresh salt water , I have the 11 gallon ones and they dont bow at all and have a small foot print so it will fit in a smaller space.

i have a 290 gallon and the 5 gallon pucket lasts about a day and a half.

I wish I could use the big drums but unfortunately the family wouldnt like one of those sitting in the living room

I was hoping to find something that would look good that I could just place beside that tank. For now Ill just use my 15 gallon tank

If your decent at carpentry you can hide a fairly good sized container in plain sight if you have the room by disguising it as a cabinet or counter right beside the tank

I suck at carpentry so I have a big old brute can right beside the tank with the lid inverted as a makeshift shelf it ain't pretty but gets the job done

I was looking for a container to fit in a very limited cabinet space while maximizing the capacity. I ended up buying an RV water tank. They come in many sizes and shapes, so you can find one that's right for your needs. Mine holds 12 gallons and last a little over a week. The one I got had no openings in it, I added those with bulkhead connectors. i cut an opening in the top for access and made a simple cover to fit over that. I could have ordered it with bungs welded on if I had wanted, but it was easier ans cheaper to just use standard pvc bulkheads. I think the tank cost me about $100, so not the cheapest option, but not outrageous either.

You are welcome to come by and see my setup. I have a 55G drum set up with 1/4 inch feed to my sump. It has been working for 12 years with no problems.

The 55G drum can be anywhere as long as it is higher than the sump or you will need a Water Top Off System.

Yes very nice container indeed, and if you ever sell it due to size constraints I would buy it

If your top off is just fresh water only and no additives how about setting up a 40gl tall freshwater tank near by and add some neon tetras lol that way you would have two nice tanks for your other half to view lol

Lots of folks use a 55gl drum and with a pump and some long tubing run it from a garage or closet near bye instead of having a massive drum of water as an end table.
