Hi all,

Some of you long time members may remember that I used to tank raise Bangaii Cardinals many years ago. It was a lot of work, but very rewarding and felt good to provide local hobbyists cheap and healthy captive raised fish.

Well I don't have the time or setup (or desire LOL) to breed again, but I do miss having Bangaiis in my tank (it's been over 7 years since I lost my breeding pair)

Unfortunately J&L is asking over $35ea for tank raised Bangaii Cardinals, so I'm wondering if there are any local hobbyists who are breeding them and have any fry (or will have) for sale?

Please PM or email me if you do!

I have always wanted to have a medium size group in my tank 5,6 or 7. I couldn't believe how much that would cost me! So if anyone is raising them for a reasonable price, I would be interested too. Such a great fish.

Thanks for the heads up. Do you recall what they were priced at?

I'm surprised that breeders are selling to the LFS but none are offering their fry to local hobbyists here on Canreef?

The reason why is easier to take them to the LFS is because is easier to sell them like that,i had 3 babies for sale for about 2 weeks until someone bought them...

Are they even locally captive-bred Bangaiis?

I think I read in that thread about Bangaiis being added to the Endangered Species list that breeders in Asia are now breeding and shipping out over 100,000 captive-bred Bangaiis annually.

Yes there are true local breed bangais,i have a pair that is breeding but i have it in the big tank and the big fish chase them down and eat them, sometime i have few that found a place to hide or they go in my overflow and end up in the sump.last time i had 11 babies...

That's great. What I was asking is whether the captive breds at J&L and King Eds are local or internationally sourced?

Oh,ok.chances are that they are local, bangais being one of the easiest fish to breed I wouldn't be surprised this guy's would have a local source for them..
