This is in relation to using or not using T fittings coming out of the back of the bulkhead.

The sketchup I have seen shows T fittings, but I have also seen elbows coming out the bulkhead down to the sump.

Other than the obvious answer (1 uses a "T" and the other uses an elbow) what is the difference / benefit of using one over the other?

In my opinion , there's no real difference. But I think durso should be higher grabbing overflow that main gated drain can't handle . Also make sure emergency drain dumps into sump, high up so it won't make an air lock in it .

I think the tee's are there for ease of cleaning of the pipes. Therefore you don't want to glue the caps.
The BA thread on RC discusses this and all permutations of BA. I highly recommend reading it before a build.
