Those are Pink Tipped Anemones ?!

They are a colonial coldwater species that lives off the coasts of BC and does best when kept below 15 degrees. Also they will not host anything, but will gladly eat anything they can catch when healthy.

15 degree...? Sounds like not gonna do very well in any general reef tank..

Where did you get them you have only had them a few weeks?

Judging by his location, he most likely just collected them out of the ocean, as there are limited few suppliers that sell them, most of them only dealing with public aquariums as well.

Also a few weeks is nothing. They can and will survive for a while, possibly even several months, however they will die a wasteful death due to the warm water, and that is a guarantee.

FWIW, we also keep this species where I work, so I am quite familiar with the species, and not just talking out of my rear.

Not sure it's a good idea to go down that slippery slope guys! :nono:

So I'm meeting buddy tonight to get one. Is this a bad idea? My saltwater tank is at 78. Will they die in my tank?

If it's a coldwater locally sourced anemone, it's a very bad idea. You need a dedicated BC-habitat tank with chiller to support any anemones or corals from local waters.

I passed. Not worth taking a chance, having it die and then my tank crashing
