Wondering if anyone has ever had a stony grow on to the glass of their tank & stay attached? I have a monti cap that has grown up to the glass a number of times but I usually end up breaking it off while cleaning around it with the mag float. I've finally managed to keep from breaking it this time 'round. It's been touching the glass for a few weeks now I think. I'll see how it goes I guess. Even if it does start spreading up on to the glass further, it will no doubt be a challenge to separate it from the main monster without dislodging from the glass also.

Funny you should ask/post, I have a red monti also growing on the back & side glass of my 80. Not touching it, would really like to see how far it goes....

Bought a tank that had a huge rainbow month growing on the glass. Was tough to get it off.
Guess it started as a frag on the rack and just took over.

Groooovy fellow babies. I had no idea! Great photos. Mine is touching the front glass, so not really a place I'm crazy about the thing taking hold. Interesting to see that others have had similar experiences though. The famous PaulB on RC has a few posts about a glass bottle in his tank that has become encrusted. He scored or sanded the glass to rough it up & make it easier for critters to take hold & encrust. Not something you want to do to one of your tank sides though. I also have a mini glass bottle on the bottom, it's encrusted with coralline, but I didn't score the glass like PaulB did. Took years though.

Thx Mike, just let it be in an area you don't need to touch,,, mine was a complete accident, unplanned.
