The bubble coral in this picture just above the yellow watchman is now sitting on the sand and getting sand kicked up on him from my lime green wrasse diving under the sand. As the picture shows it's sitting on a rock ledge in my other 90 Gallon tank I had, but I did eventually move him onto the sand bottom. Now he's on the bottom of my RSM250.
My question: are they ok on the rock work as long as there secure?

Yes. As long as it is secure and provided there are no other corals in close proximity that will sting it and vice versa.

I have mine both on the sand and on the sides of rock, both locations are fine. On the rock, though, they will grow and attach themselves pretty solidly, making them difficult (or impossible) to remove without chipping off a chunk of rock. On the bottom, they "shed" sand (from over active gobies) pretty easily and are none the worse for wear. What you do have to watch is that they are not too close to other corals. They have quite a powerful sting.
