New tank specifications and strength, will it hold ?

Been ordering a few new toys for my new tank should be fun. :biggrin:
Here is my set back and questions....
Increased my tank size a bit in length and my builder said it "should hold" but no gaurantee. So what do you guys think?

Tank Specs:

100 x 26 x 26 with water height of 24"
1/2'" starphire glass on three sides
2"euro bracing around the top
two 8 x 8 corner over flows

my options:
regular glass a bit stronger
5/8 glass plenty strong, no Starphire, really heavy, way more money
shorten the tank length
go with it, maybe add two cross braces

I'd happily go shorter and wider but the width is maxed out given my rooms specs. (makes my dinning room small/ better half unhappy all ready)

I would go with the two cross braces and have the largest size you can fit. Make sure that the braces are spaced so as not wind up directly under a light bulb.
I love the look of a no-brace tank, but with that length, you'll hardly notice.....and sleep better, too. :mrgreen:

I think your going to need to bump up a glass thickness on your two long sides.. 1/2" seams a little thin for over 8 foot long and over 24" tall.

Because the water height is only 24" you can get 1/2" starfire tempered

the other sides can also be 1/2" tempered or 5/8" regular float

Then use 2 cross braces about 3" wide each ... that way if you want to add powerheads etc there is nothing to block you from doing so

I would predrill it for closed loops and returns though as that is a much cleaner look IMO
