We have a melanurus and he's great - my wife loves him. Problem is he will eat anything he can stuff into his mouth.
I can't add blue-legged hermits, small shrimp, small starfish etc.
Any suggestions for something as pretty and active ?
Looking for something to replace his coloring

Sad day when a super star bug killer gets kicked to the curb.......
My suggestion is loose the bugs.

I must admit he's been good at keeping things in check
The hordes of brittle stars are gone

Not sure he'd let one go

You could just try another melanurus wrasse. Might get lucky that next one wont eat your critters. Or you could try a red-lined wrasse(H. biocellatus) or christmas wrasse(H. claudia).

I would have loved to take it off of your hands if only I was driving through sooner. I used to have an Ornate Wrasse that was the same way before it found a gap in the screen tank top. Shrimp and crabs are eel food IMO. I haven't owned any in about 6 years.
