So my frogspawn has been very irratated in the past few days and I couldn't figure out why. Every other coral is great and Params all checked out. Haven't changed anything or done anything at all differently. Because I was basically stumped on what the hell was going on I grabbed a magnifying glass and had a look at the frogspawns. And man it was covered in bugs.
Couldn't find too much info on what they were but read that interceptor would kill them dead. Anyone ever had these? I don't have interceptor so I gave it a bath in 2:1 peroxide to tank water, and let me tell you there was a whack of dead bugs in the water. So now I will see if the frogspawn recovers or what happens.
Anyone have expierences with these little bastards?

What do they look like ? What color are they ?
Did you take any pictures of them during or after the dip ?

They are very small and I don't have a good camera. If I had to explain them they are like tiny lobster shaped things. Defiantly not pods. Not even sure where they came from as the only thing I've added to my tank is a toadstool frag and I dipped it.

So a couple hours later and after 10 mins in a peroxide bath the frogspawn seems to be doing fine, but my lights are off so I can't really tell. The Polyps are out More now though then they have been In the last few days. I'm going keep a close eye on it because supposedly these bugs are very hard to get rid of. However, peroxide continues to amaZe me on how many different uses it has in this hobby.

Sorry greggZ I meant to post here, none of those pics are the bugs I seen, but they do have the shape of the second pic from what I can tell.

Exactly what kind of "bugs" did you read up on? You mentioned Interceptor earlier, you weren't reading about "red bugs" were you? Red bugs only affect smooth-skinned Acropora corals.

You sure it's not Flatworms they love that stuff :)

Don't think they are flatworm, but they do love Lps. There is little to no info but what I could find I found on rc. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1776624

So my 6 headed purple torch got the bugs as well, and I've dipped it in a 50/50 tank water:peroxide mix for 3 mins. We will see if the torch survives.

Lol I am pretty sure I have something similar on my torch. Let me know how it goes for you. Torch looked great and all of a sudden lots of tiny white critters and now it doesn't open as much. Did an iodine dip and it did not help. I read about the interceptor as well. I am hoping to pick up a Melanurus*wrasse see if it will eat whatever it is.

Ya that's exactly the problem and it seems that its pretty new or unknown what the hell these bugs are. So far I'm having good success with the peroxide. After 3 minutes of the torch being in the peroxide, the top layer of the water is absolutely packed full with bugs.

Lol I thought about doing a peroxide dip but I was scared to dip the torch. I do it for all my zoas and I have done it before on some other lps to rid them of hair algae with no problems. Keep posted how the torch fairs over the next few days. Good luck :)

what was your peroxide ratio?

50/50 with the cheap 3% stuff from the dollar Store. The torch seems to be perfectly fine now. (I need a camera)
