Hello, i want to upgrade to better light for my frag tank chamber in my sump to grow SPS and LPS. Looking for a small LED light (hang or clip) but not sure which one is good and need some help here. The chamber dimension is 22 inch long, 16 inch tall and 10 inch wide. here is the picture, currently using a LED light from my CAD light 8 gallon.

I have the Halo led from fragbox on my fragtank. Works great and is reasonably priced.

How about the new AI Prime?

you'll pay around 100 bucks for a par 38 and a gooseneck.

Closer to 300 for an ai prime.

ai prime is by far a better light, but on a frag tank that is under your stand attached to your sump, I don't know why you would pay for the control and extra features...

Also, just FYI - Halo IS a par 38...

$229.99 locally. :)

The control would be nice for acclimating new frags on a frag tank or for adjusting between SPS and LPS or such.

you don't pay tax in sk?

its 12% out here.

And still over double, maybe even triple what a decent par 38 would cost...that's IF you can find one in stock somewhere.

I'd rather have a prime, anyone would...but in this case, I think MOST would agree its overkill.

Even with tax it's not $300. :p

I'm not a fan of the PAR38 bulbs because they are ugly as shyte, and some of them would have too much PAR for a tiny frag area. I guess some people don't care because it's in the sump, and some people have lots of space in the sump for a PAR38. I like that the Prime looks nice and takes up very little space. It's perfect. In all honesty though, light in the sump area sucks because then you get algae (like coralline bah!) growing in the reactors and skimmer. A person can add some black acrylic/glass sheets to help protect from light spill though.

thank you for all the great suggestion, leaning more on the par 38 now and the price is very reasonable.

which store/web has the best pricing for the par 38 and the goose neck?

You should just look on Ebay.

Generally around 30-60 dollars there.

if you want the absolute best, have a look at the Halo.

I have great results with ocean revive. Look them up.

Fragbox sells similar fixtures. Contact him.
