He's cool looking.

Have you had cases of missing fish or invertebrates?

Almost never worth taking the chance and they can be SO hard to find once you do realize you have some kind of predator in your tank.

oh and all crabs are bad lol

exception: pom pom crabs!

I saw that exact same guy yesterday in a LFS tank in Calgary, may or may not be reef safe like any emerald crab, being omnivores they could go after your other critters but in my experience usually don't if well fed and may help control algae, if you don't want him there may be someone else on here who does, not a flusher anyways

Okay, and no I had not lose any fish or inverts. Got him off another reefers who doesn't want it and might take its life, so I thoguht I should take this little guy and find out what it is or just give or trade it with someone who will like it to be in their tank!

Thanks guys

although ALL crabs are omnivores and thus, liable at some point or another to eat something you might not want it to (this is more than likely due to a lack of it's main/primary food source).

However, the crab you have there is primarily an algae eater. This is evident by the spoon-shaped tips of its pincers.

Crabs with pointed pincers are much more liable to predate and should be removed immediately at all costs. These are the ones that kill your snails and damage your corals. The crab the OP posted is NOT one of them.

The crab you have would be a perfect candidate for the sump....do not throw away.

Hmmm... Yeah I might just keep him there forever then!

Thanks for the claw input

Had about 5 of these guys from a fresh batch of live rock , a couple got big , but never bothered anything , just think of them as black emerald crabs . Some emeralds go koo koo bananas and kill everything so theres always a risk.
