From one member to another :D , picked up an IM 20 Gallon awhile ago and finally had some time to set it up. Never had a tank journal for my DT so decided to put together one for my nano. Enjoy!

Tank: Innovative Marine 20G
Lights: Radion XR30
Skimmer: Innovative marine skimmer
Heater: none.
Filtration/Media: Nothing but LR
inhabitants: Rock Flower Anemones, LPS

Comments welcome

Time for some photos:

Naw big tanks are just too much work. These nano can easily be over night reefs

What generation of Radion is it?

I know for mine, I have to connect to EcoSmart and plug in a USB. There you can change down the intensity.

Let me know if you find a ReefLink. I'm looking for one too. lol:lol:

Amazing specimens sir,

Are those the Rock Flower Nems in the picture? Do you have any closeup shots by any chance? Any for sale? I've been looking for some for quite some time but stopped because was told there was none available during summer time because too hot. Please PM me your number, I purchased some ric's from you before have any to spare to a fellow reefer?

Thank you haha. I do have a couple I can let go of. However I'm attached to these guys. There's around 30 of them in there and they are very happy. But I'll definitely cull a few that are similar out if your interested send me a PM!

I have been using Radions since day 1 and still just use the original desktop Ecosmart Utility on my laptop with the USB connection. As often as I adjust it, certainly no justification for getting that ReeflLink. Also, have tried the various Artificial modes and files with different settings. But have come back to the simple Natural mode where you just set % and depth, and let it do the rest with ramping and spectrum mix. That has worked best for my coral color and growth. I do keep an Artificial setting that I can switch to with the press of the button. It highlights the color pop of the corals, and sometimes I turn it on just to impress visitors. But that setting is not the best for my SPS if I leave it on.

Thanks for the feedback Walter. Fortunately I don't have any sps in this tank at the moment. I haven't had a very pleasant experience with LEDs and sps in the past. This tank will mainly be for my rock flower anemones and some exotic lps :)

2nd day in and tank looks happy so far... *fingers crossed*

Well you certainly have some fancy LPS (and softies) there... I'm sure they need a lot less light than SPS, so you should be able to really dial down your Radion. There are almost an infinite color spectrum/brightness adjustments available, so for LPS, you can probably just choose what makes for the brightest color pops,... or make them glow... haha.

I've just started getting some semi fancy LPS (trachys, wellso, acon, fungi plates, etc) for the bottom of my tank. They look nice, but will need a lot more to be really noticed. This could be an expensive undertaking for me... Need to sell more SPS frags so I can afford the LPS...lol.

I can see why you and Albert are going for the nanos,... lot less bottom to cover.

Like Albert said... we do it for the swag?

Your totally right Walter! there is a lot less space to cover and its more affordable for sure. There's no way I could insta-reef a big tank.
I am now running the Radion at 30%, after playing with it and changing the spectrums things are looking better then ever! Kindof digging the Radions now

Don't associate me with that Albert guy... He's a money sucking machine :twised:
He takes my hard earned pennies whenever he shows me new eye candy.

I bought this tank off another member who intended on doing a similar build, I'm just carrying out his dreams. Yes I agree walter they are really cute! I'll definitely have to come by again and pay your tanks a visit soon. Perhaps you can teach me how to use that waterproof camera we have?

Thomas, please continue with your thread. Lotus, obviously a new sign up to start crap, is gone.
You can ask that the thread stay on topic to your journal, and anyone that can't respect that can leave.

Carry on.

Thanks Brad.

tank looks amazing
. i never knew that there where so many colorful rock flower anemones available.
Good call on the black sand. man do those colors ever pop. This tank is a really nice alternative to the standard nano with softies that you see most people running.

do those RFA grow like acans or zoos?

Thanks reefer, yeah the black sand definitely helps. Took the Idea from Nick and Ryan. Only downside is its kind of hard to keep clean.
