A lot of things regarding this hobby are in jeopardy and gaining speed at which it is happening.

Just wondering why it is OK to catch hundreds of millions of tons of fish for food, but catching much one millionth as much fish for an aquarium is bad? Agree with protecting species and habitat but an outright ban does not make sense.

Because it endangers the tourism industry and local fish populations. The evidence is in the shouting!
